The Principal of the Tibetan Medical & Astrological College, Dr. Tenpa Chophel visited Austria to attend the Award ceremony of honoring diploma certificates to the first generation of graduates of the diploma courses of Tibet Center I.I.H.T.S (International Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies). The ceremony was graced by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 19 May, 2012 during his 9 day visit to Austria. The award was given to 80 persons who have successfully completed their studies and exams on Buddhist Philosophy, Buddhist Religion and Buddhist Science of Mind as well as Traditional Tibetan Medicine through out several semesters.
I.I.H.T.S is the only western institution where the five traditional Tibetan fields of knowledge (rigne) are passed on in close cooperation with the Central University of Tibetan Studies (CUTS) Sarnath, Varanasi and the Tibetan Medical & Astro. Institute of H.H. the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India. The institute was founded by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and its role is to preserve and impart precious Tibetan knowledge. The aim is to contribute to the promotion of human values, secular ethics, tolerance and compassion.
