Webster University Austria

Welcome to Webster University Chess

On November 19th, 2012, Susan Polgar, director of the "Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence" (SPICE) at the St. Louis campus, visited for a very inspiring guest lecture. Susan has been playing chess since the age of four and is one of the strongest female players in history and holder of several world records.

Susan Polgar and SPICE relocated to Webster University in St. Louis in June, 2012 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. All undergrad members of the reigning national collegiate champion Texas Tech “A” chess team transferred to Webster at the same time. Since the summer, more Grandmasters from all around the world have been recruited to the team, which is now the No. 1 ranked division I Collegiate Chess team in the U.S.

In Vienna for 30 years

For 30 years now, Webster’s Vienna campus has been providing a high standard of education in Austria, giving students from all over the world the opportunity to experience the benefits of an American education. It is an education with an international focus, with students from over 70 different countries, and faculty from 20 countries.

Our goal is to give students a personalized educational experience, with maximum class sizes of 25 and individual academic advising each term. Webster Vienna is accredited in the U.S. by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and in Austria by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (bm:wf) as an Austrian Private University. Our business programs are also accredited by by ACBSP (Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs).

Webster's Vienna campus is on the banks of the Danube River in Vienna's 22nd district, not far from the Vienna International Center (headquarters for the UN and its agencies). Campus facilities include classrooms, four computer labs with Mac and PC workstations, a library with online access to Webster’s main library in St. Louis, conference facilities, an art gallery, a bookstore, student lounge and an American-style restaurant. Webster is well served by public transport and is only 20 minutes from the city center.

For every student. In every classroom. Every day.

How do we fit a century of academic excellence and a global perspective into every classroom and every course? That's what makes Webster compelling. We're a private, nonprofit, accredited liberal arts university that is also one of the most diverse and global universities in the world.

What do you think of this?

by WhidbeyChocolate

Zenit News Agency ( Austria (Zenit) - International organizations need to know that being a Christian in Europe sometimes means being the victim of Christianophobia, say the promoters of a new Web site detailing this phenomenon.
The "Europe for Christ!" network launched from Vienna to both explain what Christianophobia is, and to tell how Europeans have experienced it.
"Christianophobia means irrational fear or hatred of Christians, or Christianity in general," explained Gudrun Kugler, founder of the site

Think about a travel club

by hotitalian

Go on a dream trip with World Ventures. It's safe and affordable. I remember traveling alone in Europe when I was a college student at Webster University in Vienna, Austria. The weekend trips i took with friends were always easier; but I discovered when I traveled alone I would always meet new people and make new friends. Some people come with their spouses or friends; but many come alone. Most people just join the dream trip travel club division of World Ventures while others also work for the company like me. I work for them part-time and also am a mom and a writer. I'm going on the journey trip in June
